A VEHICLE found alight in Koondrook early on Wednesday morning was reported stolen a couple of hours earlier.
Firefighters were called to Murray Parade shortly before 3am and found a four-wheel-drive Mitsubishi Pajero fully alight.
Captain Ben Archard said that it took his crew about five minutes to control the fire and about 15 minutes to fully extinguish it.
"It was fully involved when we arrived," he said.
Firefighters had to force open the bonnet to gain access to flames in the engine, but the vehicle was completely gutted.
The vehicle was parked on the edge of the bitumen carriageway in Murray Parade, about 200 metres west of the border bridge crossing.
Acting Sergeant Andrew Neil said that the vehicle was reported stolen from outside a premises in nearby Grigg Road around 2am.
Crime scene investigators examined the vehicle later that morning.
He urged anyone with information or anyone with CCTV footage to contact police on 5456 4150 or call Crime Stoppers 1800 333 000.
POLICE are also seeking assistance from anyone who may have information regarding an incident that occurred on Pickering Road, Dingwall, during the night of Friday, March 10.
Constable Greg Broom said that a private farm property was entered and damage was caused, including a vehicle parked on the property sustaining substantial damage after it was driven into a dam on the property.
