Beyonce's father sends congratulatory message to Bey and Jay

Update: Beyonce's father, Matthew Knowles, has taken to social media to post a proud granddad message to the newest members of his family.

The post was a picture of balloons with a note that read "Happy Birthday to the twins! Love, Granddad."

He also included the captions #beyonce, #jayz and #happybirthday.

The post, which was also shared on Instagram, has been re-tweeted more than 7 thousand times. However it was not enough to convince some members of the Beyhive, who refuse to believe the baby news until they hear it from Bey herself. Others weren't happy that Knowles was sharing the news before Beyonce.

Beyonce and her rapper husband Jay Z have reportedly welcomed their twins into the world, according to reports in People and Us Weekly magazines.

The babies, siblings for Blue Ivy, 5, are thought to have arrived earlier this week.

"Bey and Jay are thrilled and have started sharing the news with their family and closest friends," a source told People.

The Lemonade pop star announced her pregnancy in February with an epic photoshoot featuring the 35-year-old cradling her 'bump' as she knelt before an altar of flowers.

"We would like to share our love and happiness. We have been blessed two times over," Beyonc?? wrote alongside the snap.

"We are incredibly grateful that our family will be growing by two, and we thank you for your well wishes. - The Carters," she continued.

The internet has been in overdrive this week with rumours that Beyonce had given birth to twins.

It was also noted that during a video message recorded for Jay Z's induction into the Songwriters Hall of Fame this week, former president Barack Obama may have revealed the gender of the twins.

Beyonce and Jay Z are yet to confirm the arrival of the twins or reveal their names or sex.

More to come.
