HE was a motor mechanic, a fuel station owner and an insurance agent.
But above all he was a devoted family man and a fine citizen.
They were the tributes paid to life-long Kerang resident Brian Deviny at his funeral service on Friday.
St Patrick's Catholic Church was filled to overflowing for the funeral Mass celebrated by Fr Junjun Amaya. Many mourners stood at the sides and the rear of the church during the service.
Mr Deviny died on July 28, just 25 days before his 83rd birthday.
Tributes were led by his daughter, Toni, who spoke in glowing terms of a devoted husband to his late wife, Lorna and their eight children, 20 grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
Mr Deviny, a passionate Sydney Swans supporter was also a long-serving Kerang Football Club volunteer and was president when the club won three premierships in the 1980s.
He was a Blues life member, life governor of the ambulance service and a recipient of Rotary's highest honour, the Paul Harris Fellowship.
