Maroons defend netball title

NULLAWIL outlasted a gallant Murrabit to earn A Grade netball honours in the Golden Rivers Netball League.

A huge crowd courtside cheered every move as the league's top two sides battled for glory.

The Maroons' senior team put the icing on the cake for the Mallee club.

Nullawil was represented in all five grades and left the courts with three premierships.

Murrabit were their worthy opponents in all three senior grades and Wandella rounded out the grand finals in the two junior games.

Nullawil's A Grade side reigned supreme against the Blues in all three previous encounters this season, ably led by goal defender Mollie Quin, this year's league best and fairest award winner.

The Maroons scored a game-high 52 to achieve an eight-goal victory over Murrabit with goal shooter Kellie Walker dominating.

Murrabit held sway in B Grade and confirmed its ladder position with an 11-goal win over the Maroons.

The Blues' Erica Cummins was the best player on the court.

Nullawil won the B Reserve Grade title with a 20-goal victory over Murrabit with Kate Stuchbery leading the way.

Jaymee Williams shone for Wandella in the 17 and Under grand final. The young Bombers' girls edged out Nullawil by just six goals.

Nullawil started their marathon of netball with an eight-goal victory over Wandella in the 14 and Under final. The Maroons' Grace Scott was best on court.
