THE Golden Rivers Football League will not reveal the names of eight players penalised following a melee in the final quarter of last month's grand final.
In an unprecedented move, the league board has acted on the request of one of the clubs involved in last month's seniors grand final to not name those who faced the tribunal last week.
The league board requested an investigation into the incident that occurred during Wandella's 93-point win against Ultima, which left Bombers coach, Paul Grayling bloodied.
The investigation found eight players – four from each team – had cases to answer, with a tribunal hearing held last Thursday.
One of the players involved in the incident, which began following a ball-up and escalated as the ball moved out onto the wing, received a six-week suspension.
A second player from the same team will miss the opening two games of the 2018 season, with a two-match suspension to be added to any penalty handed down next year.
Six other players received two-match suspended sentences for being involved in the melee.
