CR Brian Gibson has been re-elected for a second successive term as mayor of Gannawarra Shire Council.
The Kerang police officer was one of two nominees for the civic leadership role. Fellow Patchell Ward councillor, Cr Mark Arians was the other nomination. Cr Gibson won a show of hands four votes to three.
Former mayor, Cr Lorraine Learmonth defeated the incumbent deputy mayor, Cr Gillingham for the deputy role. The Yarran Ward councillor won four votes to three.
Cr Gibson said that he was honoured to be returned and pledged to continue council's advocacy role to seek more equitable funding from State and Federal governments and to listen to the views and aspirations of residents.
"We have challenges ahead, but we are not dying," he said. We will work as a team to ensure a sustainable future for the community."
