A DISTRICT strike-team of firefighting tanker crews were deployed to a large Mallee scrub fire near Nyah West on Monday night.
The fire was noticed around 8pm adjacent to Yarraby Road, west of Nyah West.
Around 30 tanker crews from that area were fighting the fire in hot, windy conditions and the Country Fire Authority response escalation later involved the deployment of a field command vehicle and tankers from Cohuna, Kerang, Koondrook and Leitchville being sent around 10pm.
The fire burnt through about 370 hectares before being contained.
The fire occurred during an early taste of Summer fire conditions, leading into the second Total Fire Ban being declared following the introduction of the declared fire danger period.
