RESIDENTS will be able to learn more about one of the area's largest solar projects later this month.
The operators of the Gannawarra Solar Farm will run a tour of its Lalbert-Kerang Road facility on Wednesday, January 24.
Work is underway on the 50-megawatt photovoltaic solar facility that will will connect to the Powercor electricity network, generating enough electricity to cater for 25,000 homes each year.
Once completed, it will be the largest solar farm in Victoria, with the 130-hectare site featuring 170,000 solar panels, each mounted on single axis trackers that will tilt throughout the day to maximise the energy produced.
A bus will leave the Sandhill Lake Fire Brigade headquarters, located on Kerang-Quambatook Road, from 5.15pm, taking participant to the site.
A barbecue will follow at the fire brigade headquarters, where participants can learn more about the solar farm.
