KERANG claimed its first Northern District Bowls Division midweek pennant Division One title in three seasons on Wednesday, producing a 29-shot win against Pyramid Hill.
A large crowd gathered on the edge of the greens at Cohuna Golf to witness Kerang win all three rinks to record a 96-67 victory.
Benefiting from the week off after defeating the minor premiers in the second semi-final, Kerang led throughout the tie, holding a 25-shot lead by the morning tea break.
Pyramid Hill's three rinks were gallant in the club's first top-flight grand final, but could not match Kerang's experience.
Gayle Teasdale produced the biggest win out of the three rinks, recording a 38-19 victory against Margaret L'Huillier.
June Maddox held on for a 24-20 win against Marie Scott, whilst Helen McBain took control of her team's match in the second half, recording a 34-28 victory.
"Thank you to all who competed, particularly to Pyramid Hill on making their first Division One final," Kerang side captain, Coral Wise said.
LEITCHVILLE dominated its Division Two grand final against Cohuna, claiming both rinks in a 28-shot victory that secured a third consecutive title.
Going into the match having lost the second semi-final to Cohuna, the minor premiers took control of the match and led by 18 shots with 18 ends to play.
The margin increased as the tie reached a conclusion, with Roma Opie recording a 36-14 win against Faye Weymouth and Bev Woods producing a 22-16 victory over Loris Bradley.
"I would like to thank all the girls for their efforts. We've had a great year together and we hope it continues," Woods said.
