Thieves cut chains connected to locks to gain access to the contents of a rubbish skip at the rear of the Rita Hall Opportunity Shop in Fitzroy Street.

They have then apparently climbed into the bin, possible stolen some items, but them strewn contents on the ground around the base of the bin.

Kerang District Health Ladies Auxiliary president, Wilma Ellis said that the incident apparently occurred on Saturday night.

"I'm utterly dismayed," she said yesterday.

"Some of the things we can't sell get put out here. Now we have got a mess to clean up and we'll have to have the bin put into the back yard, which will take up valuable space."

Police are investigating.

The sale of goods enables the auxiliary to provide valuable funding for Kerang District Health.
