A BIRTHDAY party in Kerang turned ugly on Monday night, with a brawl breaking out, weapons produced and two men being taken to hospital.
Police were called to the corner of Hawthorne and Adams Courts near Alexandra Park, at about 7.25pm.
An argument had apparently spilled out onto the street and a group of people were fighting in Hawthorne Court, Sergeant Tony Keely said.
The situation was "volatile" and a lead shovel and knife had been produced, but by the time police arrived, things had settled down, he said.
Police dispersed a group of around a dozen people and an ambulance was called for two middle-aged men who suffered minor assault-related injuries.
Sergeant Keely said investigations into the assaults were ongoing, but none of the group at the scene were co-operating.
ON FRIDAY, March 1, between 9.30pm and 9.50pm offenders gained entry to a school building at the Cohuna Secondary College.
BETWEEN 8pm on Wednesday, February 27 and 8am the following day, offenders forced entry to a caravan located in River Road, Murrabit.
SOME time in the past nine months offenders stole a cream coloured leather lounge suite and bar fridge from a home in Burke Street, Kerang. The owners were absent.
BETWEEN 6pm Friday, January 18 and 6pm Friday, February 22, offenders attempted to gain entry to a home in Vine Street, Koondrook.
He appealed to anyone who witnessed or took video of the incident to contact Kerang police on 5452 1955 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or www.crimestoppers.com.au.
"This is unacceptable behaviour. It won't be tolerated," Sergeant Keely said.
Police are considering laying charges for other offences that may have occurred.
