MURRABIT'S playgroup is reaching out to new mothers to foster expansion of the group.
Murrabit Playgroup and a new group called Murra-Bubs are joining forces to provide social and playtime activities for children aged from birth to school age.
The playgroup received a boost on Friday when some Murrabit Group School students visited to read stories to the youngsters and to help them playing with puzzles. The school has also involved the playgroup to be involved with its pet parade and teddy bears' picnic.
Playgroup committee member, Annalea Matthews said that the group was down to three, but was aware through child and maternal nurses that there were a lot of new mothers in the area who could benefit from involvement.
The Murra-Bubs concept is designed to place added emphasis on attracting parents with younger children and babies.
"We welcome mums, dads, carers and grandparents," she said.
"We promote socialising for farmers and ourselves. It's good for mental health to come for a couple of hours and have a chat."
Parents and children outside the immediate Murrabit district are welcome to join in.
Murra-Bubs and Playgroup are inviting any interested people to join them for an open day with coffee and cake on Friday between 10.30am and 12pm at the Playgroup centre adjacent to the Uniting Church in Gonn Avenue, Murrabit.
