Car torched, businesses burgled

TWO Echuca men were due to face court on Monday after being arrested over a series of burglaries at Kerang early on Sunday.

Police were alerted after firefighters were called to extinguish a fire that gutted at vehicle on a track off the Kerang-Koondrook Road shortly after 6am.

Detective Sergeant Adrian Gordon said that the four-wheel drive vehicle had been stolen from Lockington.

Three adjacent premises in the vicinity of the car fire had been entered and goods and two cars had been stolen from TJ Stockfeeds and Mawson's concrete plant. A wool store nearby was also burgled.

A utility stolen from Mawsons and a quantity of stolen goods have been recovered.

A 1989 white Toyota utility, registered XDW-401, stolen from the stockfeeds store has not been recovered.
