Junior hockey is a hit

LODDON Mallee Hockey Club's junior program is running "really well", club president Jason Hensley says, with numbers boosted by a school program in March and skill levels increasing week by week.

Almost a dozen junior members are playing at a representative level in other leagues, Mr Hensley said, and a new training format at Kerang has seen improvements in players' hockey in the last four or five weeks alone. 

"Within our club we've developed some pretty handy players and we plan to continue that. But at the end of the day the aim is to have some fun and give kids who might want it an alternative to football and netball," he said.
