FIREFIGHTERS remained on the scene of a hay shed fire throughout Tuesday night, after conditions caused the blaze to grow.

The fire at a Kerang-Koondrook Road property in Kerang was estimated to have caused more than $1 million in damage.

It was first noticed about noon midday on Melbourne Cup day, when 26 units were called to respond.
