GANNAWARRA residents are encouraged to have their say on the document that outlines how Gannawarra Shire Council raises revenue to fund services and invests in infrastructure improvements.
Councillors moved a recommendation at their April ordinary meeting to seek community feedback regarding the Draft Revenue and Rating Plan 2025-2029, with feedback accepted up to 5pm on Friday, May 16.
A requirement of the Local Government Act 2020, the Draft Revenue and Rating Plan 2025-2029 determines the most appropriate and affordable revenue and rating approach for the council which, in conjunction with other income sources, will adequately finance the objective outlined in the current and future versions of the Gannawarra Shire Council Plan.
The Draft Revenue and Rating Plan 2025-2029 provides details regarding the council’s revenue sources, as well as how rates and charges are calculated and relevant policies that align with the council’s financial operations.
Mayor Garner Smith said it was important to note that the Draft Revenue and Rating Plan 2025-2029 does not set revenue targets for the council.
"The plan’s purpose is to outline the strategic framework and decisions that inform how council will go about calculating and collecting its revenue," Cr Smith said.
