RESIDENTS living in the southern area of Kerang will benefit from works providing an additional connection point between the town’s stormwater network and the Loddon River.
Work is occurring to connect the Leng Street section of Kerang’s stormwater network to an outlet located on the western side of the Murray Valley Highway.
"As we have seen with previous major rainfall events, there is limited ability for stormwater to flow from Kerang’s drainage network to our tributaries due to the town’s flood protection levee," Gannawarra Council chief executive Geoff Rollinson said.
"These works will provide an additional outlet to the Loddon River, which will benefit residents in the southern part of Kerang where drainage is an issue during above-average rainfall events."
As part of these works, Leng Street will be closed between Bendigo Road and the Murray Valley Highway until the end of the month, with motorists advised to use Airport Road or Dunlop Street to access the highway.
