POULTRY farmers are benefitting from biosecurity lessons learned during the response to a "potentially disastrous episode" in the Gannawarra shire, according to Agriculture Victoria.

On July 31 last year, birds tested positive for avian influenza on a Golden Plains free range egg farm.
