League rejects Cohuna Kangas move

THE Cohuna Kangas will not be playing in the Heathcote District Football Netball League next season, following the league's decision to not accept the club's application at a meeting on Monday night.

Members of the Central Murray Football Netball League club on August 6 voted with an 85 per cent majority to move to the HDFNL next season.

But a vote of the nine HDFNL clubs on Monday went against the Cohuna Kangas’ proposal to join.

The league announced the decision on Tuesday in a press release.

“Heathcote District Football Netball League board held a vote with their clubs’ presidents to ascertain if there was any interest in accepting Cohuna Kangas Football Netball Club into the Heathcote District Football Netball League,” the release said.

“This was after all clubs have had sufficient time to have discussions within their own communities.

“The vote was a majority vote and the HDFNL will not be moving forward with discussions with the Cohuna Kangas FNC.

“HDFNL board, clubs and communities thank Cohuna Kangas for their application and wish them all the best for the finals series.”
