Gannawarra Times to be published this Friday.

THE Gannawarra Times will revive its print edition with the publication of weekly Friday publication commencing Friday, May 15th, 2020.

After temporarily ceasing all its printed publications in mid-March due to the economic impact of the coronavirus, the Elliott Newspaper Group recently recommenced publishing a Weekend Edition of Sunraysia Daily on Saturdays and just last Friday a weekly issue of The Guardian at Swan Hill.

The company made the decision to publish a Friday only weekly issue of The Gannawarra Times while the crisis continues.

Elliott Newspaper Group Mid-Murray General manager Rob Duffield said the move wouldn't have been possible without the support of his small team of loyal staff.

"We have seen an enormous community push in the Gannawarra for us to revive a printed product since the newspaper went into recess and we are listening to our readers and business partners," Mr Duffield said.

"While we have a strong online presence with our revamped website, people absolutely love their local paper and are desperate for it to come back.

"In the current economic climate, we are unable to revive both weekly issues of the newspaper until the crisis subsides, but we do want to provide our community with a quality Friday edition of their tried and trusted local newspaper.

"We wouldn't be able to achieve this without the support of our very supportive staff."

Mr Duffield said the company had registered for the Federal Government's Job Keeper Stimulus Package, which was recently announced by Prime Minister Scott Morrison to assist businesses like ours. The decision to re publish was also markedly influenced by the recent fast tracked Daniel Andrews Victorian Government 4.7-million-dollar funding announcement to assist Victorian regional news media.

"We are not alone in going through these tough times at the moment, but we are in our 144th year of serving this region, and we are committed to being around for a lot longer yet," he said.
