MURRABIT Netball Club players will enter the Golden Rivers Football Netball League season with new facilities, following the completion of a major project at the Murrabit Recreation Reserve.

The $328,000 project will see the Blues' players benefit from a new netball change room, with the former home team rooms renovated to accommodate visiting sides.

The redevelopment, located on the northern side of the Murrabit Recreation Reserve complex, also includes new umpire rooms, an accessible bathroom and first aid room.

Club football president Neil Teasdale said the new change rooms were a magnificent addition to the club's facilities.

"It's been a long time coming, but we are ready to open our doors for the 2022 season," Mr Teasdale said.

"The change room's location next to the complex, has enabled the expansion of the venue's verandah area to now span the wing of the football oval, which will provide plenty of shelter for spectators during the season and at finals time."

The project was supported by the state government's Female Friendly Facilities program, Gannawarra Shire Council and Murrabit Recreation Reserve Committee.

Gannawarra Shire Council acting CEO, Geoff Rollinson said council aimed to increase female participation at sporting clubs within the shire.

"Council's support of the Murrabit Netball Change Room Redevelopment is part of our commitment to increase the number of females within the Gannawarra participating in sport, as outlined in our Sport and Recreation Strategy 2019-2029," Mr Rollinson said.
