JOHN Frederick Tudor Piccoli built his garden sculptures to stand the test of time - one spanner at a time.

Known as "spanner man" by family and friends, John died suddenly on April 23, aged 79.

"It is with a very, very heavy heart that I inform all of dad's fans (Spanner Man) of his sudden passing yesterday," his family posted on social media.
