KERANG and district recorded its highest ever daily rainfall for June on Wednesday, when evening thunderstorms pushed the tally over the previous record that had stood for a century.

The Bureau of Meteorology recorded 47mm on Wednesday, with most of the falls recorded in the late afternoon and evening.

The previous highest daily rainfall for the first month of winter was 39.1mm on June 4, 1923.
