Keeping drivers revived

FOR 30 years, the Kerang SES has stationed a Driver Reviver hub in Kerang to encourage long-weekend drivers to take a break and stay safe.

On Friday of the King's Birthday weekend, the Kerang Lions Club prepared coffees and biscuits from 9am to 6pm until changing with the SES who kept weary drivers caffeinated until midnight.

Kerang SES acting controller, Anthony van Heumen, said it was all about dedication to community safety.

"Obviously for the SES it's a vested interest as the biggest road rescue organisation in Victoria," Mr Heumen said.

"It aids the safety of the travellers, and fatigue is the biggest killer especially on the straight roads we've got here."
