Long-term Cohuna ambulance officer, Steve Leeder, ended over 30 years' service as a paramedic with his retirement late last year, having been among the emergency responders who attended the scene of the 2007 Kerang train disaster.

There he assisted the Kerang ambulance crew, which was already dealing with the aftermath of the collision between a truck and a Melbourne-bound train.
