A MAN has been found dead in Gunbower.

While the body was yet to be formally identified when the Gannawarra Times went to print, police believed he was missing Leitchville man Michael Allitt.

Police said the 49 year old went missing when an alleged stolen ute he was driving lost control and partially submerged into Mount Hope Creek at about 4am on Saturday, February 22.
