Op shops re-open

After a period of closure due to COVID-19 concerns, Kerang's opportunity shops have reopened, offering locals the chance to grab bargains and raising funds for a range of valuable community causes.

Hours of operation are currently reduced, but customers are showing support for all three of the town's op shops.

The Rita Hall Opportunity Shop, run by Kerang District Health (KDH), is open Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1pm to 3pm.

Customers are required to have their temperature checked on entry.

KDH nurse unit manager, Suzanne Gray, is delighted the store is once again able to service the community and generate funds for the health service in the process.

"In the short period of time that we have been open since the Covid-19 restriction commenced, sales have been fantastic and winter woollies, blankets and coats have been walking out the door," Ms Gray said.

Vinnies Kerang op shop has also been busy.

It is currently operating Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday, with the hours being 10am to 1pm on each of those days.

The intention is to increase operating hours as more volunteers become available.

The Bus Stop Recycle Shop is open Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday between 10am and 1pm and on Wednesday's from 10am to 4pm.

Manager Carol Barton said demand for winter woolies has been high.

She is looking forward to the store's move to a new Bendigo Road address, which will take place in the near future.
