Council applies for black spot funding
THREE of the shire's worst mobile phone black spots could be addressed if Gannawarra Shire representations for funding under a federal program are successful.

The government's Mobile Black Spot Program, which was initiated in 2015, has provided funding for more than 1000 base station phone towers around the country, including two in the Gannawarra Shire, at Lalbert and Lake Meran, with one at Sandhill Lake scheduled to be complete and operating by March 2020.

National funding of $160 million has been allocated for the program's next two rounds, with telecommunications and state governments also contributing to the costs of new infrastructure.
