A CFA District 20 strike team, including members from both Gannawarra and Loddon shires, was given unexpected respite when its planned trip to a Canberra fire zone was called off due to an improved situation there.

The 22-member team was to head to Tuggeranong Valley in the South of Canberra last Friday, taking five tankers.
