Unique Anzac fundraiser

In a whirlwind three days, Kerang’s Allisha Wilkinson raised over $3,000 for a trio of RSL sub branches, two of which are in Gannawarra Shire.

A fellow member of a signwriting group to which Ms Wilkinson belongs inspired her idea to print and sell Anzac-themed stickers.

He shared his electronic Anzac sticker design files with the group’s members.

Ms Wilkinson set to work on the Tuesday, prior to Anzac Day, printing and selling over 100 stickers by Anzac Day eve.

She used an eco-solvent printer made for signwriting.

The stickers were printed on vinyl, with the printer custom cutting them out once they dried.

The large stickers were tailor-made for rubbish bins and were available in four designs.

Ms Wilkinson’s sticker sales contributed funds to RSL sub branches in Koondrook ($750), Kerang ($1,550) and Woorinen ($840).

She has expressed her gratitude to those who contributed.

“Thank you to everyone for their support,” Ms Wilkinson said.

Given the short time frame she had to print and sell the stickers, her sales certainly exceeded her expectations.

“I don’t think I’ve ever worked that hard in my entire life,” she said of the sticker production marathon, which was combined with family duties.

She is already looking ahead to next Anzac Day, planning to get an earlier start to her sticker production.

So next year’s fundraising tally is likely to climb even higher.
