Easter tennis set to be a smash

EASTER is almost here and so is the Murrabit Lawn Tennis Club Easter Tournament.

The 74th annual Murrabit Easter tournament will take the same format this year as last, with the two-day round robin guaranteeing players a minimum of three matches.

Organiser Sara McNeil said entries were starting to come in, with families and friends expected for the weekend event but plenty of camping spots at the Murrabit Recreation Reserve still available.

The tournament features best dressed doubles on both days and also caters for non-players, who can enter the B-grade competition.

For those who need them, racquets are available.

The event will include mixed competition on Good Friday, and doubles on Easter Saturday.

A-grade, intermediate, B-grade, under 16 and under 13 competitions will be played.

Ms McNeil said organisers were hoping for more junior competitors this year.

There will be lunches available in the clubhouse and delicious afternoon tea on both days.

The Easter long weekend will also see the Murrabit County Market held on Saturday morning.
